How long has it been since you used eyelets on a project? If you're like me, it's probably been awhile. Well, this month over at UYS we were challenged to use them on our projects and I must admit I enjoyed pounding away them - although my son was not very happy with all the noise I was making. Yeah, yeah, I know that they have come out with a silent setter and the crop-a-dile but I'm still using the old 10 tap hammer method - you know the one, where you hit the eyelet ten times before it sets - yep, that's the one! LOL. Anywho, if you want to join in all you have to do is create a "new layout" - no sketches or scraplifts please, and link it to the UYS blog by March 20th for your chance to win a $10 gift certificate to Scrapbook.com.
Here's the layout and card I made for this challenge.
For the layout, I started out with an 8.5x11 sheet of Bazzill cardstock, distressed some of Martha Stewart designer paper with Tim Holtz's Walnut Stain ink - added some Making Memories eyelets and flowers and created a title with Sizzlets Girls Are Wierd and Spellbinders oval dies. After I set the eyelets, I decided I liked the distressed flower shape on the back side so I just flipped the paper over and glued it down. The library card and photo turn are part of my stash.
For the card, I used the same Martha Stewart designer papers and distressd them with the same Tim Holtz ink, added some eyelets - after all, that is the stash item for this month. I used the Sizzix Vine and Spellbinders Label 1 dies, added some tiny alphas by Making Memories, added some twill to finish it off.
Now head on over to the UYS blog and check out all the wonderful creations from the rest of the team!

Ohmigosh, Lulu is just getting cuter and cuter. I can't believe how much curlier she is than my stright-haired Amber.
I just rediscovered eyelets myself, probably thanks to new improved tools. Love your projects!
